A trio of Jersey Cows; a young Jersey bull and his two Jersey cows

£720.00

Cattle-Jersey Cows x3

  • an original painting on stretched 24" x 24" canvas - SOLD at exhibition.

My husband, Richard, and I at one time kept a variety of cattle; Jerseys, Jersey x Dairy Shorthorns and Red Polls as well as Limousin, Aberdeen Angus and Hereford crosses and even the odd Friesian-Holstein. We loved them all, progressing through the first three types in that order and probably, if we had to choose, would say the Red Polls were our favourites (though we really didn't have one, they were all so gentle and kind to us).

The Red Poll, you see is more of a dual purpose nature and as we were not commercial farmers we were happy not keeping a specialist breed and it was also nice to think we were helping sustain what has become something of a rare breed now.

It is hard, though, to beat a Jersey for looks and gentleness although we did at one time keep a Jersey bull and he was a terror!

Although the original of this work was sold at exhibition (Richard and I were so sad to see it go but it went to such a lovely lady) similar works, even a revisiting of this subject, can be recommissioned at almost any size and in any style.
