Back in November 2008 two of Mark Rothko’s pieces, from his Maroon on Black series, were hung incorrectly at the Tate Modern (horizontally, rather than vertically) and a similar fate has befallen Pat Bullen-Whatling’s Diptych Lichen (click here to see how it should have been displayed).

 

Sadly, this upsets the flow between the two panels and disrupts the carefully conceived fluidity - but it is a mistake easily rectified - so no real  harm has been done.
